Newcastle Jets fan Alex Hunter proposed to his girlfriend Lauren Chriceol on the field during a game at McDonald Jones Stadium. The couple met online three years ago and have a baby on the way. Hunter, a born and bred Newcastle man, had been planning to propose for a long time and saw the Valentine's Day competition for free Jets tickets as the perfect opportunity. He told Chriceol that they might get to go down onto the field, leaving out that there could be a ring involved. The competition organisers brought four couples onto the field, and they all were in the running for the ring. As the first box revealed earrings, then the second and third, Hunter realised there was only one thing that could be in the fourth box. He got down on one knee and proposed to Chriceol in front of thousands of people. The couple have started talking about having their wedding in October next year in Louisiana.
